The Busker Project
Throughout the writing process, authors often reach out to individuals of experience or similarity comparable to that of a character they might be working on. This is part of the character development process.
The Busker Project is a character development effort to gather a better understanding of the changes and emotional effects success can have on a musician. Participation in this project will require open and honest communications that revolve around vulnerabilities, intimate thoughts, and deep emotions.
This project is designed to gather the deepest nuances surrounding the drastic changes a musician endures on the journey from a busker to a signed artist. It also explores how those changes affect their interpersonal relationships, the people around them, and their own expectations of what success means, even when it comes with a decrease in artistic license and freedom to do what brings them joy.
The most tumultuous time in a musician's life often occurs around the time when their work shifts from busking to an organized and contract-based career. During this time, relationships are tested, freedoms are stripped, and hearts grow hard. It's this critical stage The Busker Project is looking to explore and which is the basis for the literature work in progress, which aims to highlight the realistic process from busker to signed artist.
- The project consists of several communication sessions which include candid conversation and direct Q&A. These sessions are used to assist in building a character that is relatable and realistic in an unreleased work of literature. Information about the work in progress will only be shared with individuals selected to participate in this project.
- While the character being researched will not be directly based on your life experiences, answers you provide will aid in the character-building process.
- Your answers will be confidential. This is a judgment-free, mutually open, and honest communicative process.
